Other comments and points of interest:  (1) The route is notable for its display of the industrial heritage of the Colne Valley. Predominantly this is textile based and the many mills were involved in the processing of cotton, wool and worsted. Some mills remain in production, but others have been repurposed. Note for example the dramatic Titanic Mill across fields at Linthwaite, now providing luxury accommodation and a health spa. Many other industrial activities will be noted on the approach to Huddersfield.
(2) The Handmade Bakery and cafe in Slaithwaite, makes a welcome canalside stop, with its fresh artisan bread, cakes and other delights.
