Public Transport: Bus 310 from Holmfirth Bus Station to Thong Lane then 20 min walk to Netherthong and Cafe. Journey. time 25min.
Walk Description: Starting from Cricketers Arms/Pavilion Cafe at Deanhouse (as Cider Press Cafe now shut) following the path north up hill towards Oldfield. Walk through the village then NE across the fields crossing Bradshaw Road the and Meltham Road up to Hassocks Lane. At this junction, turn left along following the path SW on the edge of Honley Old Wood. On reaching the road turn left and walk a short distance SE to Knowle Lane. Turn right and then left after 50m heading south accross the fields towards Meltham Mills reservoir. Take the path through the woods along the northside of the reservoir, past the dam and sluice westwards along the access road. After about 150m, take a path back towards the reservoir following the stream. Take this path along the south side of the reservoir, crossing over a foot bridge. After 100m the path turns south over the fields and down Lower Greave Road into Wilshaw. On reaching the Wilshaw Road turn right for 50m then take a left turn down The Avenue, passing the Eleanor Hirst Alms houses and reaching the Wilshaw Mill Road, then turn left to reach the Bradshaw Road, junction. Here through a stile in the stone wall, take the footpath through the woods climbing up hill towards Wolfstone Heights trig point. After enjoying the views from Wolfstones Heights, follow the ridge path eastwards down into Netherthong – one of the best ridge walks in the Holme Valley. Coming into Netherthong via Lydgetts Farm, walk along Towngate, Church Street and School Street, then turn left down a narrow lane before the Primary School, crossing over Dean Brook Road into Deanhouse and back to the Cricketers Arms.
