Walk Description: Start your walk at the Railway station car park in Marsden by joining Station Rd and following it up and over the railway bridge. Turn left after the bridge and after 100m take the signed footpath on the right. This ascends very steeply as a surfaced track from which a path continues straight up as the track bends to the right. Follow the path until it reaches a lane, where turn right and after passing farm buildings, a junction of paths. Turn left and follow the track, which is part of the Colne Valley Circular, in places paved and in others just a wet path, better followed by using a ruined wall as a drier route. The next objective is Cupwith Hill, which is the highest ground to your left and is not easily approached. The OS map shows a route to the left and leaving your path where there is a signpost and a bench seat. However, this path is very difficult to follow and is not recommended. Instead, proceed further up the main CVC until just before a reservoir turn left and follow a track which becomes increasingly indistinct. Keep aiming for Cupwith Hill and even if you lose the path you will eventually intercept a track. Following this to the right will bring you to the trig point on top of Cupwith Hill. A clear, but unmarked path then heads SW (parallel to the A640 road) across peaty moor, then reaching a more prominent path where you turn left and follow down through a swampy area towards the main Colne valley. As the path descends more steeply it becomes firm underfoot across grazed fields. The path swings to the right and then left past old workings. Aim for the left side of Higher Green Owlers ahead and enter the grounds of the house by a gate, then past the front of the building to join the metalled lane down the valley. At the bottom of the hill ignore a lane on your right and continue past the buildings of Lower Green Owlers. Just past the buildings there is a footpath on the left which you take, across a stream and then a muddy area, becoming a drier, pleasant path which you follow down to Fair Hill Farm, which is passed behind. Continue on the metalled lane and as it turns sharply right, take the lane on the left. Keep following the lane, past a number of buildings, until it passes woodland on the left. At the end of the woodland there is a footpath on the right and a gate which gives access to a path, steeply down through a garden. This brings you to Tunnel End where you cross a road and continue down to the left, aiming for the canal and associated buildings ahead.  Take the footbridge over the canal to join the towpath back to Marsden and your start point.
