Parking: New Mill public car park or roadside parking.   At Fleece Inn in Holme, there is a small car park to rear but with roadside parking available on main road near pub. Difficult parking in centre of Holme village
Public Transport: From Holmfirth to New Mill, catch Bus 314 which also runs every hour to Holme village via Holmfirth. Journey time about 30 minutes.  Check bus times.
Walk Description: From New Mill carpark, cross Holmfirth Road and walk up Greenhill Bank Road, bearing round to left, then after 50m turn right along path beind houses westwards towards Wooldale. Follow path past allotments and playing fields then up steep path into Wooldale emerging at the bend on Wooldale Road opposite South Street. Turn left and after 50m turn right along path between houses bearing left along West Field Lane, then turn right along westward path staying on high level track Wooldale Cliff Road that eventually meets Cliff Road. At the junction cross straight over down Pigginier Lane on to Slack Lane.  At the junction with Cinderhills Road, go straight over and down Gulley Terrace crossing Underbank Road onto Well Hill Roadand down to Dunford Road. Cross the road and down a steep passage between houses and the path to the footbridge across Ribble Beck. Take the path across to Swan Bank Lane, turn left and follow the track up the bank to Carthworth Road. Cross over and go back along Ward Bank Road as it bares to the left and turns back along the ridge above the new housing development at Ward Place.  Follow the track Ward Bank Road along the edge until it meets Hill House Road. Stop to enjoy the views of Holmfirth and the Holme Valley.  Turn left along Hill House Road as it join onto White Gates Road. Just after Lower White Gates Farm, turn left through a gate on a path skirting Dobb Dike. This path is part of the Kirklees Way and HV Circular Walk.. Continue on the path down to Ramsden reservoir, crossing over the dam, with Brownhill reservoir on the right.  After the sluice/overflow at teh end of the dam, the path bares right up hill and then bares left through woodland with steps down a deep ravine to a footbridge and small waterfall.  Turn right over the footbridge and climb up the path and across the fields to a narrow gated path alongside Arthur Quarmby’s Underground House. This path emerges into the centre of Holme Village by Holme Castle (once a hotel). Turn left and walk along to the Fleece Inn for a well deserved pint at the end of the walk.
