Cross over the River Holme and then cross Luke Lane, following the track alongside Mytholmbridge Farm on the east side of New Mill Dike.  Just after Spring Wood and the Stoney Bank Chase play area, take the eastwards track on the left up to the New Mill Road. Cross the road and walk northwards up the track towards Bank End.  Cross Thurston Bank Road and up Oakes Lane.  At the junction with Bank End Knoll take the right fork past the pond and continue up Oakes Lane, almost to Birch Park road.  Here take the eastwards track back towards the railway line, then turn left and follow the footpath to the foot tunnel and cross to the other side of the railway line.  Walk on to Brockholes Railway Station,  crossing back over the railway line on the Brockholes Lane bridge and turning right along RIdings Fields.  Carry on along Ridings Fields road, and at the left bend, walk straight on the footpath between the houses, then taking a right turn to get back to railway line. Cross over the line on the footbridge then follow the path northwards around Cliff Top before coming back to the path alongside the railway line. After about 200m turn right on a northerly track up the hill to Hollinshurst and Hall Ings Lane.  Cross over the lane and along a track into West Wood. Follow the track northwards passing High Royd Farm to join the Honley to Farnley Tyas road.   Turn right up this road and after 150m turn right along a northerly track towards Upper Park Wood.  Continue on this track to Stirley Knoll, then take the left hand track just below Stirley Farm, eventually joining Lady House Lane at Berry Brow.  Turn left down Bridge Street,  crossing the railway line near Berry Brow railway station. Carry on down Waingate to the main A616 Woodhead Road. Cross this road and  then over the river by the Armitage Bridge.  Then turn right, then left southwards down Bank Foot Lane passing Brookes Mill on the right.  After 250m turn left on the track into Mag Wood. Follow this track with the River Holme on the left, exiting Mag Wood onto Hawksroyd Bank Road. Continue on this road and then onto Sandbeds road. On joining the upper Magdale road, turn left towards the Magdale bridge over the River Holme.  After viewing both the river and the mural artwork on the bridge, return and take the lower Magdale road below the mill pond, walking along the track beside the River Holme, joining Eastgate road in lower Honley.  Cross over the River Holme bridge and the A6024 Woodhead Road along Station Road, turning right along the A616 New Mill road and back to the start of the walk at the Travellers Rest pub.
