The NCOM walking group have now walked and recorded 150+ pub walks in the Holme Valley area and surrounding countryside of the South Pennines. These walks, between 4 and 10 miles long are generally half-day walks starting and ending at a pub, followed by a few beers and pub lunch afterwards. Over the years, NCOM have visited and enjoyed some 75+ local pubs in the area.

Our pub walks are located within an area roughly 25 miles x 20 miles centred on Holme Valley, broadly grouped into five areas:
NORTH Lower Holme Valley to the M62
EAST from the A629 to M1
SOUTH Upper Holme Valley to the Derbyshire border
SOUTH EAST to Sheffield and the M1
WEST to the Colne Valley, Saddleworth and M62

Our intention is to share these walking routes and maps on our website for others to use and enjoy the fine walking and rugged scenery of the South Pennines. Along with the experience of real ale and good food served in a local Yorkshire pub!

NCOM are a group of old men, who have been walking together on the last Friday of every month for the last 13 years. Most of us have been friends for over 25 years and live in the Holme Valley or nearby.

Each of the pub walks on the website was set up by an NCOM member who scouted the walk, found a real ale pub serving lunchtime food, and then led the walk.
